Foursquare adds punctuation to locations you visit

There was a time when I was an avid user of Foursquare, using it on my Blackberry and then on my Android phone. Now, I only keep my iPod Touch app installed, and do not use is that much.

I have found it useful when looking for places to have a dinner while visiting another cities. But more than that I have not found too much usability on it.

Today, and after upgrading the app on my iOS device I can see it is adding scoring to locations, this based on a complex algorithm which is supposedly not easy to hack, and become the best rated place in town with a little help of some friends.

The release notes say:

Instead of other sites where everything gets 3.5 stars, we come up with our scores using the same Foursquare magic that powers Explore. We look at signals like tips, likes, dislikes, popularity, and nearly 3 billion check-ins over 25 million people worldwide. Open up the app today and find some new places to try

Well, I did that, after opening Foursquare today I could see that some places are scored, as you can see in the picture below.

Now I think Foursquare is going to be more usable than before.
